Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 4 ounces bourbon
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 small apple, thinly sliced
  • 8 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 cup ice
  • pinch of ground cinnamon
  • optional: cinnamon sugar for glass rims

Instructions

  1. Warm the apple cider by adding 1 cup to a small saucepan with 2 cinnamon sticks. Heat over medium-low heat for 5 minutes until warm but not boiling, stirring gently.
  2. Prep the glasses if using cinnamon sugar rims by rubbing lemon juice around the edges of 2 short whiskey glasses, then dipping them into cinnamon sugar.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, combine 1 cup ice, 4 ounces bourbon, 1 tablespoon maple syrup, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, and the warm apple cider mixture (discard the cinnamon sticks). Shake for 15 seconds.
  4. Fill the prepared glasses with fresh ice and pour the cocktail mixture evenly into both glasses. Garnish each with thin apple slices, 1 cinnamon stick, fresh mint leaves, and a tiny pinch of ground cinnamon.

Notes

Adjust the sweetness by altering the amount of maple syrup to taste.
For a festive touch, consider adding a splash of sparkling water just before serving.
