Ingredients
- 2 ounces gin
- 2 ounces fresh grapefruit juice
- 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup
- 2 ounces chilled sparkling water or club soda
- 1 cup ice, divided as needed
- 1 thin grapefruit wheel
- 1 small fresh rosemary sprig
Instructions
- Juice enough grapefruit to obtain 2 ounces of fresh grapefruit juice. Juice a lemon to get 1/2 ounce of fresh lemon juice. Slice a thin grapefruit wheel for garnish and set aside a small fresh rosemary sprig.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with about 1/2 cup of ice. Add 2 ounces of gin, 2 ounces of fresh grapefruit juice, 1/2 ounce of fresh lemon juice, and 1/2 ounce of simple syrup.
- Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until the outside feels very cold.
- Add the remaining 1/2 cup of ice or enough to fill a tall Collins glass nearly to the top.
- Strain the shaken mixture over the ice in the Collins glass.
- Top with 2 ounces of chilled sparkling water. Give it a gentle stir. Garnish with the thin grapefruit wheel and rosemary sprig.
Notes
Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of simple syrup to your taste.
For a non-alcoholic version, replace gin with additional sparkling water.
Fresh ingredients yield the best flavor, especially with citrus juices.
