Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ounces light rum
- 1/2 cup chopped watermelon
- 5 large mint leaves
- 1 ounce simple syrup
- 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
- Garnish: watermelon slice and mint sprig
Instructions
- Begin by placing the cubed watermelon into a blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour the blended watermelon through a mesh strainer to eliminate any pulp or seeds.
- In a glass, add the fresh mint leaves. Use a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon to gently press and twist the mint, releasing its oils.
- Fill the glass with ice cubes.
- Add the strained watermelon juice, lime juice, rum, and simple syrup. Stir well to combine.
- Garnish the drink with a lime wheel or watermelon slice, and a fresh mint sprig, if desired.
Notes
For a non-alcoholic version, omit the rum and replace it with additional watermelon juice or a splash of soda water.
Experiment with different mint varieties for a unique flavor twist.
